Product photography done well can raise your profile and your sales. We’ve recently added a new ‘product photography’ section to the web site showcasing both studio packshots and products in a lifestyle environment.

I’ve been regularly shooting all types of products for companies large and small, from food to cosmetics, clothing to furniture.

If you have a collection of new items, or need a fresh take on your existing product range, call or email me and we can discuss how I can show your products off in the best light.

I know we are all hoping spring is just around the corner, with the promise of lighter evenings, flowers, new born lambs and all that, but don’t consign your hoodie to the wardrobe just yet; this is the UK after all. Anyway Plain Lazy sell a range hoodies and t-shirts you can wear at any time of year; these just happen to come from their new autumn/winter catalogues dream range which I shot for the guys last year. Have you ever had a dream when you thought you were floating? I often do…

VW Heritage wanted a series of photographs to advertise their Remtec range of engines for air-cooled VW Beetles and Campers. The brief was to convey a sense of reliability and that garages would recommend the engines. We visited some independent VW restoration garages with an engine in tow and shot the guys standing behind it as if in the middle of installing the motor into a vehicle. We wanted the feel to be quite gritty, so out came the California sunbounce and some hard flash to give a high contrast finish.

Plain Lazy always had off the wall requests for their photoshoots and this one was no exception. For their new clothing catalogue they wanted something completely different. “We want the models to look like they are floating or crashing into the wall”, Larry told me at the photography briefing as he rolled out the ‘grandma’s house’ style wall paper.

This presented a unique set of challenges and I decided the best way to achieve the desired look was to photograph from directly above. I wanted the models to be able to pull very dynamic poses but not look like they were lying down.

I removed some roof panels from the portacabin we were using and set up on top with the studio directly below. This was very effective and I was really pleased with the results.
